RO Plant Price in Chennai (2026)

A plain-language cost guide for industrial and commercial RO plants from 250 LPH to 5,000 LPH: starting prices, what changes the cost, and how to pick the right capacity.

By PureFlux Engineering · Updated 7 October 2026

If you are searching for an RO plant price, you have probably noticed that quotes vary a lot. Two plants with the same capacity can differ by lakhs. As a Chennai manufacturer building RO plants since 1999, we have put our starting prices and the real reasons behind price differences in one place, so you can compare quotes with confidence.

RO plant starting prices (2026)

These are starting prices for PureFlux RO plants with PSF (pressure sand filter) and ACF (activated carbon filter) pre-treatment.

CapacityStarting priceTypical use
250 LPH₹60,000 onwardsOffices, clinics, canteens
500 LPH₹1.10 lakh onwardsHotels, schools, hostels, small factories
1,000 LPH₹1.50 lakh onwardsApartments, hospitals, process water
2,000 LPH₹2.40 lakh onwardsIndustries, large campuses
3,000 LPH₹3.25 lakh onwardsIndustrial process & boiler feed
5,000 LPH₹6.00 lakh onwardsLarge industrial plants

Indicative ex-works prices. GST, transport, installation and civil works extra. Plants from 10,000 LPH to 1,00,000+ LPH are custom-designed and quoted after a site study.

What decides the price of an RO plant?

  1. Capacity (LPH). The biggest factor. Higher output needs more membranes, a bigger high-pressure pump and larger pre-treatment vessels.
  2. Raw water quality (TDS, hardness, iron). High-TDS borewell water or water with iron and hardness needs extra pre-treatment such as a softener or iron removal filter, and sometimes a two-stage RO design.
  3. Skid material: MS or SS 304. Mild steel (MS) skids cost less. Stainless steel (SS 304) skids cost more but resist corrosion and look cleaner, which matters in food, pharma and drinking water units.
  4. Membrane and pump brand. Branded membranes and vertical multistage pumps cost more upfront but last longer and use less power.
  5. Automation. A basic panel is cheaper. Fully automatic plants with auto-flush, low-pressure and tank-level cut-offs, TDS meters or a PLC reduce manual work and protect the membranes.
  6. Recovery target. If you want to waste less water, a reject recovery system adds cost but lowers your water bill over time.

What is included, and what is not

Usually included: PSF and ACF pre-treatment, micron cartridge filter, high-pressure pump, RO membranes and housings, control panel, flow meters, pressure gauges and interconnecting piping on the skid.

Usually extra: GST, transport, installation and commissioning, civil foundation, raw water and treated water tanks, feed pump, dosing systems, UV or ozone for drinking water, and site piping and electricals up to the plant.

When comparing quotes, always check that both suppliers have included the same items. A low price often leaves out pre-treatment or uses unbranded membranes.

How to choose the right capacity

Divide your daily treated-water requirement by the number of hours the plant will run each day.

Example: a factory needs 20,000 litres of treated water per day and the plant runs 20 hours. 20,000 ÷ 20 = 1,000 LPH. Keep some margin for future growth and for the time spent on flushing and cleaning.

Not sure about your daily usage or water quality? Send us a water test report, or we can arrange one, and our engineers will size the plant for you.

Running and maintenance costs

The purchase price is only part of the cost. Plan for:

  • Electricity for the feed and high-pressure pumps
  • Antiscalant chemical and periodic membrane cleaning
  • Micron cartridge replacement, usually every few weeks to months depending on water quality
  • Filter media top-up for PSF and ACF
  • RO membrane replacement, typically every 2 to 3 years with good pre-treatment

An Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) keeps these costs predictable and helps the plant deliver its rated output for longer.

Planning a mineral water or packaged drinking water plant?

A packaged drinking water unit needs more than an RO plant: UV and ozone disinfection, storage tanks, bottle or jar filling machines, a lab, and BIS and FSSAI approvals. The total project cost is therefore higher. See our packaged drinking water plant page for details.

5 checks before you accept a quote

  • Is the membrane brand and model written in the quote?
  • Is pre-treatment sized for your actual water test report?
  • MS or SS 304 skid, and what thickness?
  • What is included in installation, and who does commissioning?
  • What warranty, service response time and AMC are offered?

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of a 1000 LPH RO plant in Chennai?

A 1,000 LPH industrial RO plant from PureFlux starts at about ₹1.5 lakh (ex-works, GST extra) with PSF and ACF pre-treatment. The final price depends on raw water TDS, MS or SS 304 skid, pump and membrane brand, and automation.

What is the price of a 500 LPH RO plant?

A 500 LPH commercial RO plant starts at about ₹1.1 lakh, ex-works with GST extra. It suits hotels, schools, hostels and small factories.

Is GST and installation included in the RO plant price?

No. The starting prices are ex-works. GST, transport, installation, civil work, raw water and treated water tanks are quoted separately based on your site.

How long do RO membranes last?

With proper pre-treatment, antiscalant dosing and regular cleaning, RO membranes typically last 2 to 3 years. Poor pre-treatment or very high TDS water shortens membrane life.

Do you supply RO plants outside Chennai?

Yes. PureFlux supplies, installs and services RO plants across Tamil Nadu from our Alapakkam works in Chennai.
